MHR provides person-centered outpatient co-occurring mental health and substance use disorder treatment through our MHR SUD Program. Our program is focused on helping people struggling with substance use and mental health concerns achieve their individual recovery goals. This may include decreasing their substance use and the negative consequences related to their use, or it may include a desire to achieve abstinence from substance use. The majority of clients also experience some co-occurring mental health issues that may include diagnosis such as: Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, Borderline Personality Disorder, Schizophrenia, or Bipolar illness. Medications are often critical to recovery and individuals are encouraged to take them if needed. Our program is designed for people to be able to receive help with both substance use and mental health concerns. However, a mental illness is not required to be eligible for services. We employee both licensed alcohol and drug counselors and mental health professionals to meet the needs of people receiving services. We offer medication support for withdrawal from opioids, stimulants and alcohol. WHAT IS A PERSON CENTERED AND HARM REDUCTION PROGRAM? Person centered approach is a model that empowers the individual to take charge of their own recovery. Promoting everyone to have a strong voice in their goal setting. The essence of harm-reduction is that treatment meets active substance users ''where they are" in terms of their needs and personal goals. Thus, a harm reduction approach embraces the full range of harm-reducing goals including, but not limited to, abstinence. We see small incremental positive changes as steps in the right direction. Although many individuals desire abstinence as their recovery goal, not everyone does. We believe that helping people take steps toward reducing their substance use and therefore their harm to self and others is a worthy approach. PROGRAM HOURS The program is typically 3-4 hours per day, 3-4 days a week. However, options are available for alternative hours and days based on individual needs.
