We envision a world where mental health care is accessible, affirming, and equitable for everyone, especially those from marginalized communities. Our goal is to challenge and dismantle the systemic barriers that have long excluded people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, and immigrant families from the care they deserve. Through compassion, cultural humility, and a commitment to justice, we aim to create a future where all individuals—regardless of their identity—can heal, grow, and live with dignity and resilience. We are committed to providing accessible, culturally affirming mental health care for children, adolescents, young adults (18-35), and college students across MN, especially those from historically marginalized communities. We work to dismantle the stigma and systemic barriers that prevent individuals from seeking care, by advocating for equitable access to mental health and holistic health services for all. Over half of our team is BIPOC and/or bilingual, ensuring we meet the needs of diverse populations. Our services are designed to support individuals facing racial trauma, gender inequities, immigration-related stress, and other forms of systemic oppression. We believe in the power of healing that is not just therapeutic, but transformative—rooted in social justice, cultural humility, and a commitment to empowering our clients to thrive in a world that often marginalizes them. Our Holistic Health Department offers wellness events that center on mental health, healing, and collective well-being. We incorporate somatic practices such as yoga, mindfulness, and art therapy to help individuals reconnect with their bodies, regulate their nervous systems, and process emotions in a safe and supportive space. By integrating movement, breathwork, and body-based techniques, we support stress reduction, trauma healing, and resilience-building. Our approach honors diverse cultural backgrounds and personal experiences, empowering individuals to cultivate self-awareness and healing through community-centered care. Our mental health services include:
  • Healing Minds Initiative:
This program aims to prevent and reduce suicidal behavior, mitigate the effects of trauma and toxic stress, and promote mental health among young adults and teens. Twice weekly, participants receive text check-ins on their mental health. Based on their responses, we follow up with tailored resources or strategies.
    • To join, individuals can text 651-386-2022, and our staff will take it from there.  Providers can refer clients on our website and/or email our intake team at intake@thehealingprojectmn.org
  • On-Site Art Therapy for Teens: We partner with Twin Cities school districts, colleges, and local libraries to provide on-site art therapy sessions. These sessions offer a supportive space for teens and young adults who may be hesitant to seek therapy on their own, helping them connect with mental health support in a familiar and comfortable setting.
  • Terapia de salud mental:
Our services are designed to support individuals facing racial trauma, gender inequities, immigration-related stress, and other forms of systemic oppression.  We believe in the power of healing that is not just therapeutic but transformative—rooted in social justice, cultural humility, and a commitment to empowering our clients to thrive in a world that often marginalizes them.  We accept major insurance plans for individual, family, couples, and group therapy. Additionally, we offer $10 therapy sessions for teens, low-cost therapy options, free drop-in sessions, and cash-pay options for those who prefer not to use insurance.  Our drop-in therapy sessions are offered on Thursdays from 3:00-6:00 pm, but we also provide individual sessions!
  • NEW! Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
Starting in February 2025, our agency will offer Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) for children, adolescents, and young adults who have experienced trauma. TF-CBT is an evidence-based, short-term therapy model (typically 12–20 sessions) that helps children, adolescents, and young adults process traumatic experiences, build healthy coping skills, and reduce symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, and depression. This structured approach also supports caregivers, strengthening parent-child communication and enhancing family healing in a safe and supportive environment.
    • We are updating our website with this new service; referrals for TF-CBT can be sent to intake@thehealingprojectmn.org for now.
